Jane's workshops are tailor made to suit the participants abilities and interests with the overriding principle of having fun. Participants are encouraged to explore materials by cutting, heating, joining, breaking and pulling apart using a variety of hand tools. Discovering the inherent beauty in discarded materials requires rethinking established concepts of sculpture and what sculpture is, and can be. Construction methods and materials used in these workshops translate well to other art practices, such as drawing, printmaking, painting and stencilling, as well as fostering lateral-thinking and problem-solving. Safety is always paramount, and an introduction to safe work practice with individual tools is always given at the beginning of each workshop. Jane has facilitated workshops for numerous councils, charities, primary and secondary schools, both public and private, child care centres, disability services, corporate bodies, community colleges and privately run workshops through her studio. She works casually as an artist educator at the Art Gallery of NSW, National Art School and has recently facilitated workshops at the Australian Museum.
